Yellowwoods Preparatory is an independent, dams and farms, surrounded by trees, South Africa. Our beautiful school is perfectly set in the country, co-educational school from Grade 000 - Grade 7. The campus is situated midway between Adelaide and Fort Beaufort in the Eastern Cape, along the sunny banks of the Kroomie River and foothills of the Winterberg mountain range. Every effort is made to make your child feel at home.We also offer inclusive education for children with special educational needs within a main stream environment.Yellowwoods is a School where every child matters. Our boarding facilities are a real home away from home. Yellowwoods is known as an ‘educational oasis’ which offers young people the unique opportunity of the finest education in a secure, happy and very caring environment. We welcome children from all parts of South Africa and neighbouring countries. Visits to the school are encourage so that you can see what sets us apart from other schools.

Yellowwoods School has a total staff compliment of twenty. The School Head and Academic staff are all highly experienced, qualified teachers, who are known to produce excellent academic results. Our Admin Staff have exceptional qualifications and experience, which they pour into their work. The thorough grounding children receive at this school is borne-out by the fact that they are known to perform exceptionally well when joining other schools. It was testimony of what a community can achieve when it takes matters into its own hands. The idea of establishing the school came from members of the local Presbyterian Church. He responded immediately to the parents’ plea for help, and addressed the 1994 meeting on what quality education is all about. Many months of planning, negotiations and hard work followed before the school became a reality. The origins of these premises date back to 1841 when a retired sea captain and poet, Mr. Hazelton built a coach inn for the ox, horse and donkey wagons transporting goods between towns. They managed a trading store selling beautiful imported fabrics and high quality goods- while still running the country hotel. The premises was bought by the Fort Beaufort Preparatory School Trust and Yellowwoods School was born. Yellowwoods is fortunate in having an energetic and enthusiastic parent body (usually moms). A representative is elected annually to give leadership and structure to our functions and fund raising. The Class Mom encourages support from the relevant parents who are always willing to send in a cash donation towards expenses or an item to sell, i.e. Cupcakes, banana bread, sausage rolls, popcorn, biltong. These funds are used to purchase items needed in their child’s classroom. Our parents are a great support group to the school for sports, catering, fundraising and general assistance at the school. The parents identify projects and each year, a few fundraisers are held- usually one big project and a few smaller events during the course of the year. Some of our highly successful events have included the Yellowwoods Country Fair, Luncheons (with guest speakers) popular sporting events and regular family Sunday lunches/steak evenings -usually held on our beautiful campus.
